BIO
In his sixth pro season, Pete Lopinto of the Kodakgallery.com/Sierra
Nevada Pro Cycling Team scored his first career National Racing Calendar
win on July 16, 2006 in the Bensenville, Illinois stage of Superweek. As one of the team's most experienced racers, Pete plays an important leadership role and is highly respected by his teammates.
Having started his career with the Ofoto Pro Cycling Team, Pete rejoined
some of his former teammates on Kodakgallery.com/Sierra Nevada in
the middle of the 2005 campaign after spending the early season with
Team Seasilver.
The move paid off quickly, as Pete won the final stage of the Boulder
Stage Race in his adopted hometown and took 8th and 4th in the two
criterium stages of the Tour de Nez in Reno. Also in 2005, Pete became
the FIAC (Federation of Independent Associations for Cycling) National
Criterium Champion. The previous year, Pete's best results came in
the midsummer criteriums at Superweek, where he took several top-10
results, along with 8th place in the USPRO Criterium Championship.
Pete began his cycling career as a mountain biker and cyclocross racer,
winning three New Jersey state titles in each discipline as a junior.
He turned pro on the road in 2002 with Ofoto and improved steadily
over the next three seasons, guided by Kodakgallery.com/Sierra Nevada
Racing Manager Robin Zellner.
Off the bike, Pete has taken up skate skiing
in the winter. A budding epicurean, Pete enjoys sampling port and
desserts with TIAA-CREF's Will Frischkorn. |
