FRANCISCO (March 21, 2005) - The Kodak EasyShare Gallery/Sierra Nevada
Professional Cycling Team picked up three local race wins over the weekend,
with Russell Hamby taking both the Land Park and West Sacramento criteriums
in his hometown of Sacramento and Ben Jacques-Maynes winning the Rocky
Mountain Raceway criterium in Salt Lake City.
In Saturday's race at Land Park, Russell got away in a three-rider break
while his Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada teammate Jackson Stewart controlled
the pack, eventually winning the field sprint for fourth.
The following day, Scott Zwizanski led out Russell for the win from a
group of seven riders. Scott also finished fourth.
Meanwhile in Salt Lake City, where Ben Jacques- Maynes has been training
at altitude and hosted by 1st Endurance's Mike Fogarty,
Ben attacked out of a lead group of nine riders with 20 minutes remaining
in a windswept race and cruised to a solo victory.
Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada's next appearance will be at the World Track
Cycling Championships, March 24-27 in Los Angeles, where team member Hayden
Godfrey will represent New Zealand in the individual and team pursuits.
The team's next major road racing will come at the Redlands Classic, March
31 to April 3.
