Nevada at the head of the field
Cannon Falls, Minn. (June 16, 2006) - In yesterday's
windswept second stage of the Nature Valley Grand Prix, Kodakgallery.com/Sierra
Nevada's Jackson Stewart and Martin Gilbert found their way into the decisive
split of 16 riders that gained over five minutes on the field during the
60-mile Cannon Falls road race.
With Stewart's support, Gilbert managed to win the second bonus sprint as
the group entered the finishing circuits in Cannon Falls, place fifth on
the stage, and earn the SportsPro Most Aggressive Rider jersey.
"The field pretty much obliterated into a million pieces within 20 km of
the start, and our guys did a good job of finding their way into the front
grop. Jackson led out Martin at the finish but Health Net had five guys
in the group and they were too strong," said Kodakgallery.com/Sierra Nevada
Racing Manager Jonas Carney.
Tonight's 60-minute criterium in downtown
Minneapolis will provide another opportunity for Gilbert and Kodakgallery.com/Sierra
Nevada to make their mark on the race.
