Smartville, CA (March 22, 2007) -- It is with great regret that we write to you for a second time this season to inform you that your team has again been denied an invitation to participate in a major U.S. tour - last time the Tour of California, and this time the Tour de Georgia. Despite animating the event for each of its five previous years, expressing a keen desire to participate in 2007, and fielding our organizations strongest squad ever - including 4 reigning national championship titles - the race promoters have denied an invitation.
We share your disappointment and frustration with this announcement and will miss the opportunity to race before all of the great fans in Georgia who, over the past five years of our participation in the event, have come to recognize the Kodak Gallery - Sierra Nevada squad as aggressive, hard-fighting team on the bike and a great collection of humble gentlemen off.
We respectfully ask that you not write in to event promoter Medalist Sports, as so many of you apparently did after Medalist denied our entry to the Tour of California. It has been made explicitly clear that such expressions of support for the team will fall on deaf ears and further diminish the team's prospects for being selected for future Medalist events including the tours of Utah and Missouri.
Rest assured, each and every member of this organization looks forward to demonstrating the talent, strength and sportsmanship of our riders, sponsors and fans. We look forward to your continued support as we compete in these upcoming, world class events:
* April 7 - US Open Cycling Championships - Richmond, Virginia (same day nationwide TV coverage on NBC)
* April 13-15 - Sea Otter Classic, Monterey, California
* April 24-29 - Tour of Virginia
* May 20-27 - Milk Ras, Tour of Ireland, Dublin, Ireland
*June 12-17 - Tour of Beauce, Montreal, Canada
Finally, be sure to read about the Kodak Gallery Pro Cycling Team, presented by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in the April issue of Outside Magazine!
