TOUGH DAY IN REDLANDS FINALE
FOR KODAK GALLERY/SIERRA NEVADA

Redlands, Calif. (April 3, 2005) - The Kodak EasyShare Gallery/Sierra Nevada Professional Cycling Team closed out the Redlands Classic with a difficult day in the tough Sunset loop.

Bright spots on the day were Hayden Godfrey's winning the first points sprint to lock up second place overall in the sprint points classification, and Jackson Stewart's strong ride in the race's main breakaway.

Stewart was part of a group of eight riders that escaped on the third of 12 laps of the hilly circuit and worked together out to a gap of two minutes over the field.

Stewart rode well in the break, but was dropped after overall contender Ben Brooks (Jelly Belly-PoolGel) bridged to the group and pushed the pace. The break was caught by the field with two Sunset loops remaining.

Meanwhile, Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada's Dominique Perras and Ben Jacques-Maynes remained in the pack until the final Sunset loop and the downtown Redlands finishing circuits, respectively.

Perras was the team's top overall finisher in 25th place unofficially.

Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada Racing Manager Robin Zellner said after the race, "It was a tough race for our guys, the first hard race of the year for some of them. But I saw a lot of encouraging signs and we'll definitely be ready for Sea Otter and the Tour de Georgia."
