San Francisco (May 8, 2005) - The Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada Professional Cycling Team followed up Jackson Stewart's win in yesterday's Cat's Hill Classic with a victory from Glen Mitchell in today's Berkeley Hills Road Race.

At Berkeley Hills, Mitchell bridged up to a breakaway group including Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada's Ben Jacques-Maynes on the second of five laps in the 90-mile race known for the difficult 'Mama Bear' and 'Papa Bear' climbs.

A lap later, Tim Larkin joined the group and with 3 Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada riders, the 7-rider break quickly pulled away from the field. After the team began attacking on the penultimate lap, Mitchell, Larkin, and Michael Hutchinson (Team Spine) emerged as the lead group.

After Larkin's and Mitchell's attacks convinced Hutchinson that first place was out of the question, the three stayed together until the finish, with Hutchinson taking second in front of Larkin.

Larkin, returning to racing after the birth of his first child, said, "I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was getting pretty boring in the pack with Ben and Glen up the road so I bridged up and took it from there."

Behind them, James Mattis (Webcor Builders) was fourth in front of Jacques-Maynes.

Jacques-Maynes described the conditions, "It was pouring rain and really hard to control body temperature. But it was four-and-a-half hours of good hard racing, and good preparation for the next round of racing."

Yesterday, Kodak Gallery/Sierra Nevada's Jackson Stewart took a long-awaited victory in his hometown race at the 32nd running of the Cat's Hill Classic.

Stewart outsprinted his longtime friend, former teammate, and 1998 Los Gatos High School classmate Zach Walker (McGuire-Langdale).

"Cat's Hill has always been a special race for me, and it's a great feeling to win it in front of all my friends and family," Stewart said after the race. "I've wanted this one for so long, but now I have the pressure to win again!"

With 15 laps remaining, Stewart and Walker were part of a group of four riders that went clear of the pack, along with Ben Haldeman (Webcor Builders) and Glen Mitchell.

After doing the bulk of the work to pull the group out to a lead of roughly 30 seconds, Mitchell fell of the pace with four laps to go and drifted back to the chasing trio of Erik Saunders (McGuire-Langdale), Bernard van Ulden (Webcor Builders), and Gen Kogure (Ritchey/VeloEuropa).

After Stewart took the win in front of Walker and Haldeman, Mitchell came across the line for fourth place, followed by Saunders, van Ulden, Kogure, and field sprint winner Dave McCook (Jelly Belly-PoolGel).

Early in the race, Stewart and Mitchell were active at the front, but it was defending Cat's Hill winner Ben Jacques-Maynes who covered the bulk of the early moves.
