          | Dan wins the Giro della
            Montagna. |

      (September 7, 2005) - While his Kodak Gallery/Sierra
Nevada teammates were delivering great performances in the Barclays Global
Investors Grand Prix SF, Dan Schmatz put in work of his own at the four-race
Gateway Cup in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri over the Labor Day weekend.

Racing against a field of over 150 of the Midwest's criterium specialists,
including the powerhouse Mercy Cycling amateur team of National Elite Criterium
champion Brad Huff, Dan kicked off the weekend with a field sprint win at
      Lafayette Square on Friday night.

After missing Saturday's race in Kirkwood to be in a friend's wedding, Dan
won again on Sunday in the Giro della Montagna - this time after bridging
a 20 second gap to a 5-man breakaway with two laps to go.

On Monday, Dan again found himself in the winning move, but was thwarted
by Mercy's numerical advantage and had to settle for second place in the
race and in the Gateway Cup omnium.

Dan's journal from his trip home will be posted on Kodak Gallery/Sierra
      Nevada's website later this week.
